A few months ago I decided to go visit a great friend in Colorado over Labor Day weekend. My Crop Duster’s schedule was open so he decided to come with and we had the best time together! Long weekend trips over holidays are actually pretty fabulous, we will have to do it again.

We left on Friday, August 31, from home to drive the ~10 hours to Denver, Colorado. The drive from Iowa is pretty uneventful, especially once you get to Nebraska but it we spent our time listening to a podcast about airplane fire fighting, reading magazines, snacking on veggies + cheese + salami + crackers. It honestly went by so fast and I have to say I’m grateful for my hubs who drove the entire way.

We arrived in Denver just before 5pm (mountain time) and were so excited to see our friend, Nadyne! The first night there we relaxed and went out for wings + beer at Fire on The Mountain in Denver.

Saturday we had big plans so we woke up around 7AM to have breakfast and get ready to head out by 7:30AM to get to Colorado Springs. Our first full day in Colorado consisted of getting a two-hour tour at the National World War II Museum and visiting Garden of The Gods, and stopping by my aunt & uncle’s to say hi! Once we arrived back to Denver we went to dinner at Osteria Marco, a recommendation from my soon to be sister-in-law, Bailey.

Day two we took a long road trip of ~2.5 hours to Steamboat Springs! Neither us or Nadyne had been so it was fun to experience something new. Even just the drive there was incredible – the views are so fabulous in Colorado. I’m always reminded why it’s one of my favorite states besides Iowa. We had a blast checking out the downtown area and having lunch, hiking, and going to the hot springs. What a busy, fun day!

On our last day, Labor Day, we spent the entire day relaxing and spending quality time with Tyler’s step-brother who also lives in Denver and Nadyne.

It was such a great trip and we can’t wait to visit Colorado together again!

Who else has been to Colorado? What’s your favorite place?

Jordan’s First Air Show

I am kind of ashamed to admit I’d never been to an air show before – especially since I’ve been with my pilot for 8 years.

Regardless, we made it happen finally and went to an air show near us in Ottumwa, Iowa. Now I’m hooked!

It was the perfect, cloudy day to be able to see the planes flying so well. It was about a 3 hour show filled with variety and Tyler’s favorite, Skip Stewart, was even there.

It’s hard to say which one was my favorite as they were all incredible to watch! I did get a neat video on Tyler’s phone of the Aeroshell team. These other photos are from my old, old iPhone 5 so it’s going to be time for an upgrade one of these days.

Cheers to Another Year

Most recently I’ve begun to realize that the saying of “the days are long, but the years are short” is so, so true. I remember growing up thinking that the years passed slow because I was always wishing for more freedom – getting to drive, graduating high school, starting college, graduating college, etc. It was always a constant goal of moving forward as quickly as possible.

Now, I just wish time would slow down. Life is so, so good. I don’t want it to go by so fast!

With that being said, ironically enough, I’m moving on to another year of life. My birthday was August 11 and man did it creep up fast again. I’ve had a really busy, happy year and it’s fun to look back on that.

Here are a few highlights..

*Started a new job and have been able to travel multiple times, including twice in the company jet.

*Traveled for fun to the Dominican Republic & Arizona

*Celebrated my sister getting married

*Supported Tyler through another successful spray season.

Cheers to year #27!
